Another component of the contest is plant identification. This
portion of the contest will mostly consist of plant leaves and stems, but fruits, flowers
and questions about plant identification and uses may also be part
of the contest.  |

For easier
study, each plant species on this website
is coded for only one of four (4)
contest rotation years and only one of
eight (8) forest ecosystem types, even though many
species often can be found in more than one
ecosystem.
