 Identifying Characteristics
Size/Form:
Rubbervine is a twining, herbaceous evergreen. This perennial is poisonous to eat and the smoke produced from burning the plant is toxic.
Leaves:
The leaves are simple, oppositely arranged, and persistent. The oblong shaped leave with smooth margin. The sap is milky.
Flowers:
Large white flowers are often paired and bloom all year.
Fruit:
Smooth follicles, often paired.
Habitat:
Found in coastal hammocks often on mangrove trees. Salt tolerant species.
