University of Florida
School of Forest Resources and Conservation Extension

The University of Florida's School of Forest Resources and Conservation (SFRC) extension program is committed to assisting forest landowners with the challenge of remaining economically competitive in an increasingly global market, while conserving and sustaining forest ecosystem benefits. Florida has 16.5 million acres of forest land, 70% of which is in private ownership. The demands for forest resources (wood, fiber, water, wildlife, and recreation) are steadily increasing, but the land base is shrinking. Florida's forest managers will be expected to provide more benefits with less resources, and to balance competing demands in a environmentally and socially acceptable manner. The SFRC Extension Team will cooperate with forest land owners to meet current and future challenges by extending science-based knowledge with workshops, short courses, continuing education, symposia, seminars, presentations, field days, demonstrations, publications and electronic media.
