Forest Stewardship Polycom Videoconference:
Post-fire Forest Health and Timber Tax Issues
September 13, 2007; 1 - 5 PM ET (12 - 4 PM CT) broadcast live via Polycom from the University of Florida Campus to Extension facilities in Duval, Hamilton, Hillsborough, Lee and Walton Counties
Between January 1 and June 7, 2007, 2,731 wildfires burned 305,347 acres in Florida. Approximately 122,560 of these acres (about 2,506 wildfires) impacted private lands. For landowners impacted by these fires, this program will help you evaluate fire damage in your forest stands and decide what actions may be necessary to minimize your risk of future damage from insects. Other topics will include tax treatment of damaged stands and regeneration expenses as well as Federal cost-shares that may be available to assist with regeneration and other stand treatments.
Questions can be directed to Chris Demers, 352-846-2375, cdemers@ufl.edu.
