The Osceola National Forest along with members of the Fire Science Lab conducted a series of experimental prescribed fires in February 2011 as part of ongoing research investigating the effects of mechanical fuels mastication in pine flatwoods forests.  Lab members Jesse Kreye and David Godwin both have dissertation research addressing questions ranging from fire behavior and fuels dynamics to soil carbon content and fluxes.  Pictured below are Jesse Kreye and research technician Michael Camp.
