Identification and Assessment of Conservation Compatible Practices on Private Forestlands

Integrating biodiversity conservation with forest management on privately owned forestlands has been a concern for landowners, forest practitioners, and policymakers in advancing sustainable forestry. Major challenges in pursuing this goal appears to be lack of a clear understanding on what forest practices are compatible with conservation goals, and how landowners would respond to the adoption of such practices in the face of external costs and benefits. This study investigates the management of non-industrial private forests (NIPF) under Florida’s comprehensive wildlife conservation plan (Strategic Habitat Conservation Areas-SHCA) to address these challenges.
