What is i-Tree?: Created by the USDA Forest Service and its cooperators, Davey Resource Group, the National Arbor Day Foundation and the Society of Municipal Arborists, the i- Tree suite brings together inventory and assessment tools in a single, free, and supported environment to help identify and manage the structure, function, and value of urban tree populations. Users are provided with step-by-step methods for conducting an urban forest ecosystem or a street tree resource analysis. Compatible software utilities included are the: Mobile Community Tree Inventory, Storm Damage Assessment Protocol, Tree Inventory PDA Utility, and Sample Inventory Generators.

Why attend this workshop?: An overview of the history and development of the i-Tree suite of software tools will provide participants with a background on how and why these tools were created and their use for Florida communities. The workshop will familiarize participants with the various i-Tree suite tools, their basic functions and how to develop the ability and confidence to explore the programs further within their respective communities. During this hands-on workshop, users will gain experience in working with the software and conducting i-Tree urban forest resource analyses.

Who should attend?: This 2-day workshop is designed for local urban and community forestry leaders (e.g., municipal, non-profit, or consulting urban foresters) who are: directly involved with the management of urban forest resources, part of a developing urban and community forestry program, looking for a way to assess or inventory their tree resource in a more detailed manner, or interested in promoting their urban forest resource. Proficiency with Microsoft EXCEL and other Office Suite programs is required. Participants must be capable of creating, saving, and relocating files within the Windows Explorer framework.
